I am an artist and printmaker who works out of my studio on the edge of Hexham in Northumberland, printmaking and teaching.
A graduate of The National College of Art & Design, Thomas St, Dublin, I studied Visual Communications. My career as a graphic designer began in Irish television at RTE. My final employment came as design manager at Procter & Gamble, via a variety of design studios and international advertising agencies in Ireland and South Africa.
I stumbled into printmaking by accident – a Saturday workshop, a day free of the demands of small children. There began my love affair with handmade prints. A few years later I began exhibiting and selling my work through galleries and open studio events such as the Northumberland Art Tour.
In 2004 I became a founder partner with printmaker, Rebecca Vincent, of Horsley Printmakers. We established an independent printmaking studio based in Northumberland from where we ran workshops and made our own work.
In 2011 we took a decision to spread our wings and fly solo. Rebecca phased out Horsley Printmakers by 2014 in order to trade under her own name.
After a number of false starts I have finally found my own beautiful studio on the edge of my adopted home town in an old barn conversion where there are several other artists’ workshop units where I now run printmaking workshops and continue to make and sell my own work.
