“As an artist I welcome the opportunity to open up our home to likeminded people on my courses. We welcome course participants looking for simple, warm, friendly and informal accommodation staying with my other half, Chris and I, alongside our our cairn terrier, Sooty.”
Our home is a three bedroom sandstone end late Victorian terrace, circa 1900. Despite being just a five minute walk from the centre of the lovely market town of Hexham, our quiet, private garden overlooks woodland with a burn (stream) running at the bottom of it.
THE ATTIC ROOM
The room has a double bed but it is more suitable for one person. There is an en suite toilet and sink. The bathroom is a shared one on the first floor. If you come with a partner we can put you up in the second double bedroom in the first floor.
THE ADVANTAGES OF STAYING WITH US
Unlike the usual B&B accommodation you can join us at the breakfast table (and share in our evening meal if you wish). This gives you ample opportunity to talk through your day’s learning.
- Using public transport? Our house is a short walk 5 minute from the bus station and about 15-20 minutes from the train station so you can easily explore the delights Hexham has to offer on foot such as Hexham Abbey, the Sele Park, The Tyne, local restaurants, cafes and wine bars, pubs, independent shops and galleries and the cinema.
- You can go in early and stay on late after teaching is finished if you are totally engrossed in honing the new skills and techniques you are learning.
£30 pp per night
- Bed and full English or continental breakfast using local and/or homemade produce – assumes single occupancy.
£50 per room – double occupancy

STUFF TO DO OTHER THAN PRINTMAKING
Newcastle upon Tyne and Gateshead is a half an hour drive or 40-50 minute journey by train; Hadrians Wall Country is on our door step which also encompasses the Northumberland National Park and the Northumberland Dark Skies; there are a number of National Trust properties such as Wallington Hall and Gardens and Crag Side and beautiful gardens such as Herterton, Wallington, Bide-a-Wee to name but a few.
Our neighbours, Julie and Mick, run a separate five bedroom property, Hexham Town Bed & Breakfast, just a couple of minutes walk from here and Hexham town centre. I can highly recommend them but don’t take my word for it. They also get rave reviews on Trip Advisor.
The bed and breakfast is even closer to Hexham Town Centre and public transport.
Below is a list of other B&B accommodation in or very near Hexham in a variety of price ranges.
Dilston Mill B&B – a couple of miles outside Hexham on the Corbridge Road – car required or you can get a bus into Hexham and either a taxi or possibly a lift from the bus station.
Hall Bank Guesthouse – Very central. Within walking distance of everything. Taxi or lift to the studio.
Bridge House B&B – 5 minutes walk from the centre of Hexham
The Beeches B&B – 10 – 15 minute walk from the centre of Hexham
