Colour, Collage & Texture
Exploring textured materials to make beautiful, deeply embossed colourful collagraph prints.
Whether you are a beginner or an experienced printmaker, this workshop will provide the opportunity to explore all manner of textured materials that will enable you to take your collagraph printmaking to a new level.
We will discover (by trial) the textural potential and qualities of all manner of materials including wallpapers, lace, and plant materials. This will be achieved by printing blind (without colour). Once we have established the textural possibilities of our different materials we will move on to discover how these textural effects can be further enhanced using different printing techniques, different colour palettes, and by the introduction of stencils and masks. Texture, colour, masks and technique - the possibilities are endless!
By the end of the workshop you should have developed a practical understanding of a wide range of collagraph techniques and how these techniques can be blended to produce a variety of creative outcomes. You should leave with a number of unique small prints to keep as a record of your weekend of discovery and possibly give as a gift.
