Lindisfarne at Dawn – (168)

Lindisfarne at Dawn – (168) is such an inspirational place. Last summer I spent a night on Holy Island. Once the day trippers went home for the day, the place takes on a cloak of silence and peace only broken by the cacophony of birds at dawn. Lindisfarne Castle is such an imposing structure on Holy Island I was trying to convey the atmosphere as the sea mist rolls in at dawn.

The image was created from a collagraph plate using scored mount board, PVA glue, carborundum and paint to create the textured surface to which the ink is applied using brushes and rags.
