ART FOR FOOD Open Studio Event

in aid of West Northumberland Food Bank

In February of 2019 I opened my studio to the public offering lots of bargains to clear space for new work. I gave 30% of the sales to The West Northumberland Food Bank, in line with the minimum gallery commission I normally pay galleries . We raised in excess of £700 for the food bank.

I’m repeating the event in 2020 on Sunday, January 26, between 11.00am and 3.00pm. If you live within driving distance do come along and help make the event as successful as the last one.

There will be up to 70% off the following:

  • Framed and unframed original prints

  • End of line framed and unframed reproduction prints

  • End of line framed mini prints

  • End of line jewellery based on my designs

  • End of line greetings cards

  • End of line and seconds from my hugely popular range of glass coasters

There will also be all sorts of artistic things that accumulate in my studio such as unwanted frames.

My standard mini prints, open edition mounted prints and originals (framed and unframed) will also be available to buy.

A BIT OF BACKGROUND

Sadly, demand at the food banks in the Tyne Valley has gone up significantly since January and February of 2019 with the roll out of Universal Credit. Winter brings with it particularly high demand anyway coming in the immediate aftermath of Christmas. Our friends at the food bank remain especially concerned over the impact of the +5 week wait period before Universal Credit kicks in.

Despite an incredible amount of food being donated during harvest festival, demand for food is up 50% on last year. The food banks the Tyne Valley are still struggling to keep up with people's needs.

Last year nearly 500 households in our area had to fall back on the food bank to put food on the table. Please come along to my studio, have a chat and a cup of tea, see how I make my prints, take the dog for a walk in the woods and help me raise funds for this fantastic, volunteer-run and donation-dependant service.
