These birds are known for their patient presence on the shores of Bute and Northumbria, This evocative print attempts to capture the serene and patient presence of these elegant seabirds.

The print captures the heron's silent graceful flight above the water. Carol Nunan's inspiration comes from personal encounters observing these birds around Rothesay and the Northumbrian coast, as well as witnessing the lively heron nests near Lochranza on the Isle of Arran. By fusing monotype and collagraph, the artwork not only portrays the heron's physical form but also evokes the spirit of its quiet yet determined nature.
