Bute Studio Trail

Saturday and Sunday

22nd + 23rd July 2023

10:00a.m to 5:00p.m each day

I’m at Venue 7

Get ready to experience the biggest Bute Studio Trail to date! Join me at my new studio (see Venue 7 on the Rothesay walking map - see below). I’m opening my doors for the first time along with 40+ other artists across the island.

Explore various venues on the Bute Studio Trail, including eight studios in Rothesay, that are conveniently located near the ferry port. Discover talent in every corner of the island, accessible by bike, e-bike, tour bus, or car. There's something for everyone! Don't miss out! You will need to plan ahead using the online brochure in conjunction with the interactive map as you are unlikely to be able to get to see all 43 artists in the 27 venues over the weekend. Take a look at the interactive map to help you choose.

There are several options:

  1. Two walking tours of Rothesay for those who want to leave their car at home.

  2. You can use public transport or the open tour bus to get around the island.

  3. You can come by bike. The island is 15 miles long and 5 miles wide. Very doable to get to see artists in the more rural parts of the island.

  4. The venues with Disabled Access have now been added to the map

  5. Venues planning to carry out demos are also on a separate layer on the map

  6. And finally if you need a comfort stop some venues are offering access to toilet facilities.

Walking route map for the Bute Studio Trail in Rothesay

We’ve marked which venues have disabled access, access to toilet facilities and which artists and makers are hoping to demonstrate their work processes. The map provides you with a guide to where the public car parks are, which venues have on-street parking and in rural areas where you can park safely.
