Use of The Studio
Who is this for?
Printmakers who live locally but don’t have access to their own press or printmaking facilities.
Printmakers off-island who want to explore their practice in a lovely island setting for a set period of time
Studio users who have recently attended one of Carol’s workshop and wish to continue practicing and developing their new skills
Artists who are looking for the stimulation of working with like-minded creative people.
How Does It Work?
Studio Induction
This is required if you wish to work in my studio independently and you have not attended a workshop in the previous 3 months. A studio induction enables you to find your way around the studio and use my equipment correctly and safely.
The studio is available for one-off sessions, occasional use, regular weekly bookings, or monthly access, all at an hourly rate. Standard studio hours are from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, though these can be flexible to accommodate your needs.
My professionally equipped studio, situated in a beautiful island setting overlooking Rothesay Bay and the Rothesay Ferry Terminal, has the following equipment:
A Hawthorn Printmaster 545 Etching Press
Brayers of various sizes
An extensive range of equipment, paper, Hawthorn inks and other materials for monotype/monoprint, collagraphs.
I will always be on-site to assist you as needed.
FEES FOR USE OF STUDIO

Materials Ordering Service
I order most of my printmaking materials - carborundum, plates, rollers, etc, from Hawthorn Printmaking Supplies and papers from RK Burt. High shipping costs can be a deterrent if you are placing a small order yourself. I offer a service where you can piggy back your order with mine so that shipping costs are shared and more affordable.
