High Tide on the Causeway
High Tide on the Causeway
INSPIRATION
High Tide on the Causeway is a colourful seascape art print of the iconic Northumbrian coast by Irish artist, Carol Nunan, who lives and works in Northumberland.
It is inspired by the view across the Holy Island Causeway to Lindisfarne Castle on the Northumberland coast at low tide seen by many a pilgrim over the centuries.
“I recently returned to monotype as a print medium having been inspired by the results of some test prints I created for a workshop using acetate stencils to create pebble shapes. I’d also just returned from a holiday in the Outer Hebrideswhich reminded me how much I love the sea whatever the weather. Holy Island continues to be a major source of inspiration for me.
It print is made up of multiple layers of ink using acetate stencils for the foreground and then layers of colour for the more painterly skies with the final layer being the silhouette of Lindiesfarne.”
