INSPIRATION

We have one of the most famous trees in the world sitting along Hadrian’s Wall between the Roman Fort of Housesteads and Milecastle 39. It came to fame when it featured in the Kevin Costner movie about Robin Hood. The tree is much photographed and painted. My own take on this iconic tree is that it sits within the Northumberland National Park which is a designated Dark Skies Park for the lack of light pollution and the fabulous night skies and frequent auroras that can be seen when conditions are right.

The materials for this plate included PVA glue, carborundum and acrylic paint to create the textured surface to which the ink is applied using brushes and rags.
