INSPIRATION

The image for this print was inspired by a Dovecote Studios tapestry that hangs in the Museum of Scotland - abstract in bright reds and turquoise blues and a walk I took not long after, where we stumbled across two doe in a silver birch wood and Neolithic stone markings in a similar setting inspired this print.

I started by playing with a similar colour palette in the tapestry but as I began to print the plate, I went with the flow and allowed the colours to dictate where I went with the colours.

The materials for this plate included scored mountboard, wood filler, PVA and carborundum with ferns pressed into the surface of the wood filler and grasses inked up and placed on the inked plate as the plate and paper went through the etching press.
