Before The Storm At Scalpsie A/P
INSPIRATION
"Before The Storm at Scalpsie" stands as a muted artist proof seascape art print, inspired by Carol Nunan's early island explorations. The genesis of this print occurred after a Sunday beach walk on Scalpsie Beach. While observing dramatic rocky formations that jutted out of the sandy shore, she also observed a colony of seals precariously basking on the offshore rocks. The collagraph element of the plate meticulously treated with a blowtorch to yield textured intricacies. The print vividly captures the island's mercurial weather. Rain drifts across the sea towards the land, only to be swept away again as the wind shifts, encapsulating the transient nature of island weather.
