INSPIRATION

I live not far from the vast rolling uplands of the Northumberland National Park where the endangered curlew still abounds, nesting in the grassy uplands and loughs in spring and summer, then departing for the coast in autumn and winter. The artist in me was drawn to the curlew's unmistakable silhouette. It only seemed right to incorporate within the print some of the plants and grasses that are the natural home of the curlew. I hope my print will encourage people to look more carefully at (and therefore value) this fabulous, slightly other-worldly bird that has become a symbol of Northumberland.
